This is the first self-published book I did.  I had traveled to Mauritania to do a story for Aramco World magazine on a radio program called "The Message" where citizens could post messages to inform fellow radio listeners.  It was a way to, not only unite a new and immense country, but also to inform each other of important news and happenings such as upcoming weddings, graduations, deaths and even good grazing pastures.

However, as cellphones became more affordable and cell reception more widespread radio listening diminished in much of the country except in those places off the cellphone grid.  So I went in search of "The Message" radio listeners and in my own way (a bit whimsical as you will read) I found other messages.

If you wish to read the article and see the photographs I did for "Message Nation" here is the link:  https://archive.aramcoworld.com/issue/200804/message.nation.htm
